Moraira which is a small, picturesque coastal town that has a lot to offer. The resort is one of the most unspoilt on the Costa Blanca, with 8 km of beautiful coastline surrounded by mountains and vineyards. There are approximately 14,000 people living in and around Moraira and nearby the village of Teulada. A large percentage of these are foreign nationals who live here all year round. The beaches on the Costa Blanca are some of the most beautiful in Spain and the beaches around Moraira are no exception. At the foot of the town's castle is Playa de l'Ampolla, Moraira's most popular beach. Literally 2 minutes walk from the center is this lovely golden sandy beach with a restaurant/bar which is very popular in the summer months. A hidden gem is the small but famous beach in the area called El Portet. The beach can be likened to a Caribbean bay, with turquoise and calm waters surrounded by hills and rolling greenery. The beaches south of Moraira are more rocky and are ideal for snorkelling. In Moraira there is a fish market which is one of the most popular in the Costa Blanca region. The marina is very nice and charming and here you can find some great restaurants. The main street is small and colorful with an excellent range of local shops. Moraira is 80 km north of Alicante and 100 km south of Valencia. The nearest larger community is Denia, 17.1 km north of Moraira.
