La Mata, a 2300-meter-long and over 40-meter-wide beach, is located at the Torrevieja district of Torrelamata. To the south, it borders on Cape Cervera, and to the north it separates the La Mata Tower area, which has given its name to this area. It has a really long esplanade that runs along the entire beach, where you can visit many chiringuitos and restaurants. On the other side of the beach we can find a large dune area which is part of the "Parque del Molino del agua" - the water wheel park and where you can find an original and recommended ship-shaped restaurant, Queen Mississippi.
La Mata is a coastal resort located on Spain's southern Costa Blanca. La Mata is closest to Torrevieja and with all the property development in recent years the cities have now been merged together. La Mata has become more and more popular as a tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches. Although the Costa Blanca is renowned for international tourism La Mata is very popular with Spanish domestic tourists.
