Karsiyaka village is located on the northern coast, 35 minutes' drive west of Kyrenia town. The village climbs up the side of the mountain. The area is popular because it has retained its traditional rural feel, is close to fantastic beaches, has good bus connections, several grocery stores, restaurants and other attractions for a quiet life but still close to everything. From the top of the village you have a 180 degree panoramic view of the sea and the Besparmak mountain range with a view that is magnificent in all directions. The local area has many coves and beaches. With a 1-minute drive you reach three sandy beaches, two of which are very secluded. On Karsyaka beach you can see the sea turtles Caretta Caretta and Chelonia lay their eggs in May/June and in July/August watch the eggs hatch. The West Kyrenia coast, the north-west coast of northern Cyprus is perfect for hiking, swimming, scenic experiences and loads of fine restaurants. For those interested in history and archaeology, there is much to explore from small hidden caves to Roman fish pools. If you want a night out dancing, you don't need to drive into Kyrenia. International DJs come to e.g. the Escape Beach Club and there are several bars along this coastline (locally called "little Ayia Napa") where various music groups come for a gig. Alsancak village with approx. 6,500 inhabitants is approx. 12 km west of Kyrenia with the Kyrenia mountain rising to the south and the Mediterranean Sea to the north. Ilgaz the beautiful village is located high in the tree-covered Besparmak Mountains above Alsancak village with close proximity to medieval castle ruins and archaeological sites. Here you will also find Gillhams Wineyard & spa hotel where you can taste the home-made wines together with fantastic gourmet dishes. When you drive down towards the sea, you will come to Alsancak with its many restaurants and shops. Lapta village is 15 minutes drive west of the city of Kyrenia, it is also the largest municipality in the west. The village climbs up the mountain with many narrow nice lanes to explore. The area is popular with a rich mix of activities yet has retained its solidly traditional feel. Here it is close to everything, fantastic beaches, lots of shops of all kinds, large grocery stores, Super markets, restaurants, bars and much more. Rows of small fine sandy beaches and coves just within a few minutes drive there are some well secluded beaches. Some of the north coast's best diving spots are in the sea below the village, a local diving school takes care of everything from beginners to veterans PADI certified, international with several languages including Swedish.
